Seco has introduced the Double Turbo 11 milling insert, the latest advancement in indexable milling technology designed specifically for smaller machines and applications involving lower depths of cut. The new solution aims to help manufacturers improve machining efficiency, reduce tooling costs, and achieve high-quality surface finishes across a wide range of materials.

Positioned as a modern square-shoulder milling solution, the Double Turbo 11 is suitable for face, side, and slot milling operations. The insert features a double-sided design with four cutting edges, enabling cost-effective performance and longer tool life. It is engineered to perform reliably across materials such as steel, cast iron, and superalloys, allowing manufacturers to expand machining capabilities without compromising productivity.

The insert’s optimized geometry supports stable and accurate cutting, particularly on machines with lower horsepower. A robust support face design reduces load on the center screw by approximately 25%, improving durability and minimizing the risk of insert breakage during operation.

To simplify shop-floor usability, the Double Turbo 11 incorporates user-friendly features such as a center-locking screw and clearly numbered cutting edges, enabling faster, error-free insert indexing and reducing machine downtime during tool changes.

Commenting on the launch, Michael Davies, Product Manager – Square Shoulder Milling at Seco, said the new insert was developed to ensure high performance even in constrained machining environments. He noted that the combination of robust design and ease of use enables manufacturers to achieve greater productivity and reliability on smaller machines.

With the introduction of the Double Turbo 11, Seco continues to strengthen its portfolio of milling solutions tailored to evolving manufacturing requirements. The new insert is designed to support manufacturers in maintaining consistent machining quality, operational efficiency, and cost control in daily production environments.

Founded in Fagersta, Sweden, Seco is a global provider of metal-cutting solutions for indexable milling, solid milling, turning, holemaking, threading, and tooling systems, with a presence in more than 75 countries. For nearly a century, the company has focused on delivering high-precision machining solutions that enhance productivity across the manufacturing value chain.
