Henkel Adhesives Technologies India Private Limited (Henkel India) has taken a significant step toward carbon-neutral manufacturing by partnering with CleanMax, a Brookfield-backed company, to enhance solar power utilization at its Kurkumbh and Thane manufacturing sites. This collaboration aims to reduce over 4,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, equivalent to planting around 300,000 trees.

The partnership is anchored in a Single User Group Captive Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between Henkel India and CleanMax, where CleanMax will own and operate a solar farm in Maharashtra. This initiative aligns with Henkel’s broader sustainability goals and commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.

S Sunil Kumar, Country President of Henkel India, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are proud to partner with CleanMax, which will significantly enhance Henkel’s contribution to climate protection. This PPA is a decisive move towards a more sustainable future, reinforcing our dedication to green power usage.”

Kuldeep Jain, Managing Director of CleanMax,added, “Our collaboration with Henkel India underscores the transformative power of green initiatives in achieving meaningful environmental progress. We are committed to being the sustainability partner of choice for corporates.“

Henkel India’s efforts toward sustainability are already evident, with its Chennai manufacturing facility being entirely carbon-neutral and its Rudrapur plant operating on green electrical energy. This new PPA with CleanMax further strengthens Henkel’s sustainability strategy by expanding solar power usage.

With a clear goal of achieving absolute emission reduction targets by 2030, Henkel is committed to continually improving energy efficiency and transitioning to renewable energy sources, while also working toward a Net-Zero pathway for Scope 3 emissions in line with the Science-based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
