The renowned EMO Hannover trade fair, a pinnacle event for production technology, is set to undergo a strategic adjustment for its 2025 edition. The duration of the event will be condensed, transitioning from six days to a more streamlined five-day affair. This decision, spearheaded by Dr. Markus Heering, Managing Director of the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW), reflects a concerted effort to enhance efficiency and purposefulness.

This shift is not arbitrary; it stems from a clear consensus among exhibitors who expressed a desire to intensify and focus the trade fair. Feedback gathered during the 2023 event highlighted a predominant preference among exhibitors to forego Saturday, citing changing visitor habits and the evolving nature of trade fair engagement. In response, Saturday will be omitted from the itinerary.

The evolution of visitor behavior has been pivotal in shaping this decision. With access to comprehensive information beforehand, attendees are adept at planning and executing their trade fair visits with greater precision. The data indicates that the average duration of attendance spans just over a day, with international visitors extending their stay slightly. Consequently, Saturday no longer holds significant allure for visitors, prompting its exclusion from the schedule.

Beyond enhancing efficiency, the truncated timeline offers practical advantages, yielding cost savings on accommodations and personnel expenditures for both exhibitors and attendees. Complementing this adjustment, Deutsche Messe AG has introduced an innovative offering in collaboration with get2fairs, encompassing accommodation options in Hanover and its environs, alongside convenient transportation to and from the venue.

The upcoming iteration of EMO Hannover is slated to run from Monday, September 22, to Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Hanover Exhibition Center. Friday will retain its status as a full-fledged trade fair day, ensuring ample opportunity for engagement with exhibitors. Dr. Markus Heering expressed confidence that this recalibration will yield myriad benefits for all stakeholders, enriching the trade fair experience and fortifying its status as a global industry leader.
